We treat the full range of cervical and lumbar spine conditions, including disc herniation, stenosis, radiculopathy, myelopathy, fractures, spondylolisthesis, and spinal cord tumors. Our team also manages neck and low back pain, foot drop, and neurogenic claudication.
Most patients do not. The majority of spine conditions improve with conservative care such as physical therapy, medication, and time. Surgery is reserved for specific situations, such as a clear neurological deficit or symptoms that persist despite a fair course of non surgical treatment. We start conservative and escalate only when your situation calls for it.
It refers to techniques that use smaller incisions and spare more of the surrounding muscle and tissue. For suitable patients this often means less pain after surgery and a faster recovery than traditional open approaches. Many of our procedures are performed this way, and most patients go home the same day.
It depends on the procedure and the person. Walking is encouraged right away and is the main activity for the first four weeks. Many patients return to light activity within a few weeks, while a fusion takes longer to heal fully, and physically demanding jobs may need six to twelve weeks. Your surgeon gives you a timeline built around your specific operation.
Most patients do not. The risk of needing additional surgery after a first cervical procedure is roughly four percent over a lifetime, usually at the level just above or below the original. A careful first plan, and good long term spine health, keep that risk low.
Patient Stories
“Excellent remarkable TLIF. The surgical area is perfect. When other surgeons tell me I need surgery I check in with him. His knowledge and conservative approach has helped me avoid unnecessary surgeries. He is the best, no other way to say it!”

“Dr. Abrahams did my surgery and it was a great success. After nearly 8 years of pain, I finally found a doctor who could help me. My sciatica nerve was compressing my L4 and L5, which was giving me pain and a very poor quality of life. Not only does Dr. Abrahams have a great bedside manner, but he certainly knows the complexities of the spine. Thank you so much for giving me my life back!”

“Dr. Abrahams is an extremely compassionate and highly skilled neurosurgeon who, along with Dr. C. Shannon, saved my husband’s life by removing a complicated malignant metastatic brain tumor during a very long surgery. In addition, Dr. Abrahams has been my surgeon for several spinal procedures and I trust him with my life.”
Kathleen Cully · Google Review
“Dr. Abrahams literally saved my life. I went to him back in 2004 in horrible shape after being misdiagnosed by my primary care physician. He went above and beyond in saving my life. I highly recommend him for his skills, ability, his humanity and the love he demonstrates for both his patients and his work.”
